Conditioning
Program Information
The purpose of this conditioning program is to ensure
that our athletes are getting the proper off-season
conditioning that will keep them in shape while not
under the direction of sport-specific coaches. The
program is designed to teach the student athletes
specific workouts that they can do themselves over
the summer to stay in shape. It does require commitment
and hard work, as well as dedication to continue workouts
even after the conclusion of the formal program.
Weightlifting will consist of high repetition with
moderate weight- focusing on
overall strength, while reducing the risk of injury.
For many girls, this will be their first experience
with a weight program, so we do not want to over due
things. Conditioning days will consist of the combination
of distance workouts, with speed drills and focus
on plyometrics (jumping drills) as well. Again, this
program is a jumping off point. The athletes will
need to keep up the workout regimen that they learn
in this program into the summer in order to keep at
peak cardiovascular performance.
